Found in Wilton: What’s going on with the gyms?

Since mid-March, our daily lives have changed from the way we work to our area schools, to the small basic things in life. Over the course of the last few months, I have been talking to small business owners throughout lower Fairfield County. I reached out to local gyms and fitness centers to see how they are during the pandemic. Here is what they are doing.

CT Fitness Lab
1) We immediately began running Free Live Stream home fitness classes on our YouTube Channel.  (CT Fitness Lab)

  • 9:30 am Mon – Sat. (Sweat Class)(Strength, Metabolic Conditioning, Balance, Mobility)
  • 11:30 am Mon/Wed/Fri (Scaled-Down) for lower ability compensations
  • 11:30 Thursdays (Yoga)

2) We loaned out equipment (Free of Charge) to our clients so they could participate in in-home workouts and maintain their activity levels as best they could.
3) We provided Individual Home Workout programs with instructional videos through our Mobile app.
4) We began offering Weekly Virtual Personal Training sessions through Zoom at a monthly rate which includes the mobile app program for the other days of the week.
5) We send out a weekly video newsletter to our contact list encouraging positivity, nutrition recommendations, versatile activity options, and updates regarding programs, community news, etc…
6) I am also the Strength and Conditioning Coach for WHS Football.  We made the Team’s program available on our app and have continued to provide home programs that include speed/agility and athleticism for them as well.

Fit Finder CT
It is a website that provides you with local trainers. With over 30 trainers providing a range of different styles ranging from pilates, yoga, weight training, nutrition, barre, and more. They also list what age category you are looking for from kids to seniors. With Covid-19 restrictions, you are able to have one on one training outdoors.

The Pilates Advantage

The Pilates Advantage offers full Zoom Schedule of a variety of Mat Pilates and Pilates Fusion Classes. Customers are asked to sign up for these classes on our app and either take the videos or Zoom Classes whichever suits there schedule.  The videos were based on the honor system and on what they could afford to pay for.  We have also added a complimentary Zoom Meditation Class every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. of Yoga Nidra to help people cope with stress and anxiety as well.  Participants of the meditation are suggested to make a donation to the Wilton Food Pantry for these classes. At this time they are posting our Zoom Schedule on their website every week as well as sending daily reminders and invites to clients so they can jump into our Zoom Classes last minute. We offer classes weekly  Mon. – Thurs. 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 4:30 or 5 p.m., Fridays – 10 a.m. & 12 p.m., Saturdays 9 & 10 a.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m.  Clients are asked to sign up on our app. and they get the invites thru our emails.  If not a client at the studio they can email thepilatesadvantage@hotmail.com for sessions or class invites.
